I'm interested in exploring the limits of currently available technology for password cracking, and demonstrating the vulnerability of some current password algorithms to this type of attack. The flipside is demonstrating that other algorithms (such as MD5CRYPT) are quite secure, and that implementing such things is an excellent way of preventing precomputation attacks or rapid brute forcing.

im the_drag0n and some people might know me from other boards. im mod @ freerainbowtables and almost any time online @ bars, hashkiller.com, freert and here i tend to be very activ in boards.

in the sense of conding im sometimes doing some 1337 python scripts but i've not yet found time to learn some real language such as c.

Hi guys! I'm synthesis, I'm interested in all those gpu cracking systems, even if I don't have enough knowledge to write my own CUDA apps. I study engineering and I'm a Linux fan (for me Linux means Gentoo only, I don't like anything else )

I'll follow this project and post in this forums my benchmarks and my opinions because I think Bitweasil is doing a very nice work...

i made the multithreaded rcracki, and recently had some fun with the sha-1 password algorithm and made a multithreaded, mmx using version of a sha1 password brute forcer (not gpu).

Hi all, i'm mrCracker in this forum, as well as in the Oxid.it forum. In RL i work full time within the corporate security department of a large outsourcing provider. I'm doing password research (i like to think of it as 'research'), with the final goal being publishing a range of articles on several password related topics (including "does blondes have better passwords?").

I've got 8+ years of statistical data to look at, covering tens of thousands of users and accounts.

To me all these excellent tools are just ... tools to aid me in my research; instead of having to conclude "X % of the passwords are so good i can't crack them", i'm being able tell the (almost) entire truth about every single password for every single account for the last XX generations. Not being a coder myself means i'm a forum lurker who sometimes tries to put in ideas or questions for current and future releases of such tools as those discussed here.

I'm a compsci student and code mostly OO (java/C++) and SQL. I have a hardware addiction (i'll probably be able to spare 5+ cards at any one time for this project lol) and I am currently trying to teach myself CUDA and openCl.

I code in quite a few languages, am a network engineering student, and have a special interest in speeding up my WPA-PSK hash cracking - although I like to think I'm also a good contributor to freerainbowtables as well (why let CPU cycles go to waste...)

I'd like to be able to contribute here, hopefully moreso once I finally get my geforce 250 here (bit of dodgy dealing saves money at the cost of time), and ideally once I get a bit more money that will become a 295 or perhaps a couple of teslas

I am known as kreator on this board and go by one other alias/nickname on another board (un-related interests).

I have been interested in all sorts of computer activities for a good number of years and currently work outside of the IT field. A couple of years ago I was interested in utilizing FPGA's to accelerate performance while cracking passwords and have been quietly following the GPGPU developments for a few months now. This project (cuda-multiforcer) was brought to my attention by the BackTrack forum user Pureh@te who had wrote a PDF document outlining CUDA accelerated applications/techniques utilizing the BackTrack security Linux distribution and made specific mention to the cuda-multiforcer project.

Hope to learn much more about the project and possibilities as time goes on.
