What is max password length supported by Cryptohaze?

Postby infiltrator » Thu Nov 24, 2011 2:27 am

Hi Bitweasel,

Is there a reason why, the --max password length is 14? Or have I misread something?

Thank you

Which tools?

For the rainbow tables, I think max length is 14 or 15. That's due to the nature of my reduction function.

For the multiforcer, it should be 48 for most common algorithms, something like 27 for NTLM (since it's unicode, that's as long as you can go in a single hash function), and 16 for most of the salted algorithms.

Which one were you looking at? :)

Hi Bitweasel,

I was using the Cryptohaze Multiforcer tool, and I was reading the full list of command line options, on your website and the following paragraph caught my attention.

--min / --max (required) These set the minimum and maximum password lengths to search. Lengths of 0 through 14 are currently supported.

I was using the MD5 algorithm, so that left me wondering whether the other algorithms would also be limited to 14 characters.

Thank you

eeeh.

Documentation. I suck at it. And will fix that. Thanks.

They're no longer valid.

Not only are --min & --max not required (if not present, it starts at 1 & works up), max is now 48 for many algorithms.

:)
