the problem is that shipping costs something xD

*shrug*

I don't care that shipping costs something. The target audience for this stuff won't care either. If you want it for free, that's cute, but given that it will require a moderately high end system to actually *use* it effectively, I don't see a problem here. Go play around with the FRT tables if you want free tables. They've already hit distribution issues.

Do you turn you computer off at night or when you aren't using it? Also would you just leave it on 24/7 if you are downloading rainbow tables? If you answered yes and yes then the free tables are not free anymore.

2TB would cost me $14 to download if I normally have my computer on 16 hours a day and I left it on all the time to download the tables. Also it would take 77 days to download.

2,000,000,000 kB / 300 kB/s / 3600 / 24 * 0.15 kw * 0.15 USD/kWh * 8 hours/day = $13.89

no with a torrent download that´s not important and i´m not sure whether i´d do it.. of course you need electricity^^
but i can download with 1,7M/s which is much faster than your internet connection.

That's all well and good, except for the fact that you need people who can push that much up. And, historically, rainbow table torrents are *very* poorly seeded.

yes they are poorly seeded normally. that´s a problem with them. you need 20 guys with my internet connection so that i can get 1,7MB/s or a strong server..
but acutally we are far away from our topic now xD
