Any interest in a pre-loaded Amazon EC2 cracking instance?

Postby Bitweasil » Wed Nov 17, 2010 11:07 pm

An interesting idea I came up with recently:

Would anyone be interested in a pre-built Amazon EC2 GPU image fully loaded with various RT sets?

The idea would be that I create a public image loaded with RTs, and other people can instantiate a copy, do their work, and delete it. This would prevent having to download 10s or 100s of GB of tables, and provide access to those without high end GPUs. Those EC2 GPU instances are pretty stout...

The downside is that I'd have to pay storage fees for this, just to keep the base instance available. Depending on how much space it uses and which table sets it gets, this could be significant ($50-$100/mo).

Would anyone be interested in a subscription service? $10-$20/mo would provide access to these instances, or I could do a one-time fee that gave access for a given period of time.

It obviously depends on performance with the EC2 cluster disk activity, but I still think this would be a /ton/ faster than downloading tables.

Thoughts?
